What is your liver condition?

I had Biliary Atresia

How old were you when you was diagnosed?

I was diagnosed at less than 6 weeks old

How did you feel?

I was lucky I guess not to really know what was going on. I don't remember anything

How were you told?

My mum and dad have told me a lot about it over the years

How does it affect you?

It doesn't affect me at all now. I am perfectly healthy!

Are you on any medicines?

Yeah, but only 1 tablet twice a day

How often do you go to appointments?

I go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital once a year, my local hospital twice a year and for a blood test every 3 months

What are the good and bad things about having a liver condition?

The good things are that I was able to represent the UK at the world transplant games in 2009 in Australia!
The negatives are the comments I get off people when they see my scar, however I am getting very used to it now

Does anything worry you about having a liver condition?

Not really. I just worry that something might go wrong with my liver again
