What is your liver condition?

I had Biliary Atresia. I had liver transplant in 2000, I am being prepared for another one, but I am not on the list yet

How old were you when you was diagnosed?

I was only a few weeks old, although I can't remember, I have just seen the photos

How did you feel?

I feel a bit scared and frightened about having another transplant

How were you told?

I don't know, I can't remember

How does it affect you?

In lots of ways, I have to miss school more often than my friends, and then when I go back to school I find it a bit hard to fit in.
I don't have as much energy as every one else either

Are you on any medicines?

Yes, tons and tons

How often do you go to appointments?

I go lots of times a year, definitely much more than three times a year

How are you treated there?

Great, they’re sooo friendly at Kings; they look after me and reassure me, so does my family, loads and loads and loads

What are the good and bad things about having a liver condition?

The bad things are you have to go to hospital loads and you can't do as much as every one else.
The good things are you get spoilt and you get lots of attention!!

Does anything worry you about having a liver condition?

Yes, things like how it will affect my future

Have you got any messages for other young people with a liver condition?

Yes, make the most of life and remember you've got people who care and will help you though the worst of things
