What is your liver condition?

I was born with Biliary Atresia, I had Kasai procedure at 8 weeks.

How old were you when you was diagnosed?

I was diagnosed at one week.

How did you feel?

As I was only a baby when I was diagnosed, this is something I have always known. My condition is part of me, just like a freckle or a birth mark.

How does it affect you?

When I was growing up I would often get sick. Lately, I have been healthy and have been infection free for over 8 years.

Are you on any medicines?

None.

How often do you go to appointments?

Once a year, just to ensure everything is on the right track.

How are you treated there?

I have an exceptional GI doctor.

What are the good and bad things about having a liver condition?

It was always hard to have a scar as a young girl, but eventually you get used to it. I used to tell people I got attacked by an alligator, in the amazon jungle or a cool story like that. Always smile about it.

Does anything worry you about having a liver condition?

One day things could get worse - but you just live everyday, and not worry about what could happen.
