With the picnic season well and truly over, Saturday October 1st saw the first event of CLDF's winter programme.
Eleven families came along to Hollywood Bowl Centertainment in Sheffield for a game of bowls, lunch, the chance to win some fun raffle prizes and the opportunity to meet others in the same situation.
Laura Meehan, Young Persons Officer said: "Saturday's event was a great opportunity for families in this area to meet in an informal setting, share their experiences and have fun. This was the first family event we've done in the Sheffield area and we've been delighted with the response we've had."
Amongst the guests on Saturday was Nicola Basher from Sheffield whose eight year old son, Louis, has Alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency: "It's easy to feel that you're all alone going through an experience like this," she explains. "We had never met other families who had been through what we had so we found it really valuable to be able to do that and to compare experiences. And the main thing was that it was fun - Louis and his brother had a great time!"
