To help you decide what to do, each idea is coded, showing you how much money you could make and how difficult it would be to organise.

What do they mean?

£ - small fundraiser
££ - medium fundraiser
£££ - big fundraiser

star - easy to organise
star star - a bit harder to organise
star star star - difficult to organise

 

A

Auction of promises £££ starstarstar
Get a selection of “promises" donated and hold an auction with the promise going to the highest bidder

Art exhibition/sale ££ starstar
Auction off art work!

Arm wrestling competition £ star
Everybody pays a set amount for taking part in an arm wrestling competition

B

Beat the goalie competition ££ star
Charge people to take penalty shots against a goalkeeper. Those scoring 3/3 could win a small prize

Battle of the bands ££ starstarstar
Get your musical friends and family to enter a band and pay an entrance fee. The best band could win a small prize or trophy

Baby sitting £ star
Look after some little ones and get their parents/carers to donate money to CLDF. Recommended for over 15’s!!

Board game day £ star
Get friends to bring round their favourite board game and charge each person to play. Charge per game to raise extra funds!

C

Car wash £ star
Clean friends and families cars and ask them for a donation.. Ask teachers if you can clean their cars at lunchtime!

Comfy-chair day £ star
Auction off the privilege to spend every lesson for a day sat in an armchair! (Organisers of the auction must transport the chair to each lesson)

Competitions ££ star
Whether it’s a sports activity, sponsored silence or even a quiz, these are easy to organise and great fun too. People can be sponsored or pay an entry fee depending on the competition. Winners could receive a small prize.

D

Disco ££ starstar
Ask your school/college if the money from the next disco can go to CLDF. Or for the more adventurous, organise one yourself and be the DJ!

Dog walking £ star
Walk friends and families dogs and ask the owners to make a donation to CLDF

Donate-an-hour ££ star
Ask teachers/parents/relatives to consider donating 1 hour of their pay every month or year to CLDF

E

Easter egg hunt £ starstar
Hide mini Easter eggs and charge friends and family to hunt and fill their baskets. Clues can be provided – at an added cost of course!

F

5-a-side football ££ starstar
Players pay a fee to take part, and tickets can also be sold for people to watch. They could even take part in fancy dress.

Fashion show ££ starstarstar
Organise a fashion show and sell tickets to family and friends

Fete £££ starstarstar
Have a variety of stalls to sell bits and bobs, cakes, sweets and even some fun stalls like hook-a-duck and face painting.

G

Guess the number of…? £ star
People pay to take a guess and the person who guesses the correct number (or comes the closest) wins!

Give up… ££ star
E.g. sweets, playstation, chocolate, crisps and get sponsored. The longer they’re given up, the more money you can raise

H

Hook – a – duck £ star
Play to pay to hook-a-duck and winning numbers win a small prize

Halloween Party ££ starstar
Organise a Halloween themed party and then sell tickets to family and friends. Ask your school/college if you can hold it there!

I

International food day/evening ££ starstarstar
Make dishes from around the world and charge people to sample them. Get friends and family to help make them for even more variety!

In lieu of presents ££ star
Instead of receiving presents on your birthday, Christmas, anniversary or other special day, ask for donations to CLDF instead.

J

Junior Runs £££ star
Take part in one of the North, South, Manchester, Edinburgh Junior runs. Call CLDF for more details!

Jailbreak ££ starstarstar
Go to a pretend jail for the day. The more sponsorship raised, the longer you must stay there! Alternatively, raise a set amount to make your escape!

K

Karaoke ££ star
Sing a-long to your favourite tunes. Make money by charging people an entry fee, or even taking donations to get someone off the mic!!

Knobbly knees competition ££ star
Get people to show off their knees and be creative by painting faces on them. People pay to enter and the most creative wins a small prize.

L

Lasses’ Day ££ star
Invite all your female friends around for a pampering session. Charge for beauty treatments and really spoil yourselves.

Lads’ Day ££ star
Get the lads round for a game of football or a battle of the teams on your favourite computer game. Charge an entry fee to raise funds.

Left Hand Day £ star
Do everything you’d normally do with you right hand, with your left hand. Get sponsored by friends and family and get them to take part too! (If you are left handed, use your right hand)

M

Movie night £ star
Sit back and enjoy your favourite movies with friends. Charge an entrance fee and sell popcorn, drinks and snacks

Money snake £ star
Place coins along a snake in the playground or pavement.

N

Non-uniform £ star
Pay a fee to wear your own clothes to school for a day. Give it a theme such as wear something yellow day, anti-fashion day or zany clothes day.

Name the teddy £ star
People pay to guess the name of a teddy with the winner getting the teddy

O

Obstacle Course £ starstar
People pay to compete in an obstacle course (individuals or teams) with the winner getting a prize

Open Day ££ starstarstar
Each department in a school puts on an activity and families each pay to have a look around. Add craft stalls or sell cakes to make additional money

P

Parachute jump (over 16s) £££ star
Jump out of a plane at 12,000 ft and get people to sponsor you for doing it!

Playstation (computer game) play-off £ star
People pay to take part in a computer game competition with the winner getting a prize

Party ££ starstar
Sell raffle tickets at a party or maybe hold an auction. Have a theme to make it more fun and ask people not wearing costume to pay a forfeit.

Q

Quiz – Pupils vs. Teachers £ starstar
Ever wanted to show your teachers who’s cleverer…..? Pupils and teachers pay to compete in a quiz against each other

Quiff Competition ££ star
How high can your hair go? The wackiest hair style will be the winner and people pay to enter.

R

Ready, Steady, Cook competition £ starstarstar
People pay to take part in a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ competition with the winner getting a small prize

Recycling £ star
Recycle old mobiles or empty inkjet or toner cartridges through CLDF’s “Green CLDF” scheme.

S

Swim-a-thon ££ starstar
Get friends and family to join in or sponsor you doing a sponsored swim

Stars in your eyes competition ££ starstarstar
Ever fancied being a star? Organise a singing competition with people paying to enter and to watch

Spelling bee £ star
People pay to enter a spelling competition. People can also sponsor you for every word you get right. Perhaps you could use words to do with liver?

Smartie Challenge £ star
Give out tubes of smarties to everyone. Once they have eaten them they then have a certain amount of time to fill the tube with coins

Tug-of-war £ starstar
Teams pay to take part in a tug –of –war competition.

Treasure Hunt £ starstar
Individuals or teams pay to take part in a treasure hunt with the winner getting a prize

U

University/School Challenge £ starstar
Ever thought your classmates are the cleverest? Why not hold a quiz against the other classes in your year. Each team pays to enter

Unwanted and unused gifts £ star
Organise a jumble sale or ask a person over 16 to sell old clothes and toys on eBay

V

Valentines Day Postman ££ starstar
Charge people to deliver their Valentines Day cards to people in your school.

Variety Show ££ starstarstar
Ask people to enter acts for a fee. This could be singing, dancing, miming, comedy sketch or maybe a magic show.

W

Wee Walks ££ star
There are 10 Wee Walks all over Scotland – why not take part and get your friends and family to sponsor you?

Wear trainers to school/work day £ star
Pay a fee for the privilege of wearing trainers to school for a day

Who’s the baby? £ star
Get teachers and pupils to bring in a picture of them when they were a baby. People pay to guess who each baby is, and the winner gets a small prize

X

Xmas card sale £ star
Sell homemade cards or encourage people to buy CLDF cards from the website

Y

Yo Yo competition £ star
See how long people can Yo Yo for. People pay to enter and the winner gets a small prize

Z

Zoo Quiz £ starstar
Test your knowledge of exotic birds and animals with a quiz
